Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in South Africa nestled in the Cape Winelands valley crested by mountains. Due to its magnificent oak-lined streets, it is also known as the City of Oaks or Eikestad (in Afrikaans).

Stellenbosch is known for its scenic beauty, world-class wines, fine Cape-Dutch architecture, art museums and food to suit any budget.

The University of Stellenbosch forms the heart of the town where about 31 000 students are enrolled. It is listed as one of the top four universities of South Africa and one of the best universities in the world.
